A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Heathwood Hall boys junior varsity basketball TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR A WINNING 2024-2025 Season.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Heathwood Hall boys junior varsity basketball team of Richland County captured their regional title and finished the regular season with a 14-5 regular season record and 9-1 regional record; and

Whereas, with one returning player, Trey Small, the Heathwood Highlanders fielded almost an entirely new team, including newcomers DJ Scott, Jackson Dickerson, Andrew Frick, Callum Bruner, DaMar'e Spriggs, Charlie Taylor, Connor Wolfe, Niko Byrne, Charles Cooley, Ben Gisewhite, and Brayden Williams; and

Whereas, in the tournament semifinals, the Highlanders defeated Northside Christian Academy and Hammond School in the region championship. Heathwood closed the year on a ten-game winning streak to claim its second consecutive regional junior varsity boys title; and

Whereas, in a sport that exacts agility, speed, and accuracy, Head Coach Bernard "BJ" Holmes and Assistant Coach Rhodes Campbell capitalized on their own athletic ability and training to forge a championship team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the court; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives values the respect and appreciation that these Heathwood student-athletes have brought to their school and their community, and the members anticipate following their future success in the days to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Heathwood Hall boys junior varsity basketball team, coaches, and school officials for an extraordinary season and congratulate them for a winning 2024-2025 season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of Upper School George Scouten and to Coach Bernard "BJ" Holmes.
