A house RESOLUTION

 

to congratulate Reverend Frank Reed of charleston county on the occasion of his seventy-fifth birthday and to wish him a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Reverend Frank Reed will celebrate his seventy-fifth birthday this month; and

 

Whereas, Reverend Reed was born on February 24, 1950, to the late George Reed and Martha Reed Taylor, the youngest of nine children.  During his early childhood, he attended Summerton Elementary School, and later graduated from Burke High School; and

 

Whereas, his higher educational studies were at Trident Technical College, where he completed the following trades:  welding, blueprint reading, and auto body technician; and

 

Whereas, his military service extended over twenty-two years.  His journey began when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 30, 1969, through September 30, 1971, where he left with an honorable discharge. He enlisted in the Army National Guard from November 1972 until 1974 with an honorable discharge. He continued his service to this country with the Army National 678th Engineer Detachment from December 1974 to March 29, 1983. He concluded his military career serving in the United States Air Force from March 1983 to June 30, 1991, with an honorable discharge. He was employed with General Electric for ten years at the Charleston Naval Shipyard until his retirement; and

 

Whereas, at a young age, Reverend Reed began his Christian journey at Greater St. Luke AME Church in Charleston. He was called into ministry by God and licensed on January 17, 1999. Several years later, he was ordained on February 23, 2002, at Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Snipe; and

 

Whereas, Reverend Reed completed his theological studies at Rhema Bible College in Summerville, where he received a degree in theology on August 28, 1999. He continued his studies to receive a bachelor's degree in divinity on December 20, 2002. He furthered his theological studies at the American Association of Christian Counseling in Virginia, and graduated September 15, 2002; and

 

Whereas, his outreach ministries were at Floyd Manor Residential Facility and McDougall Corrections Center from 2000 to 2002; and

 

Whereas, Reverend Reed became a member of the Royal Missionary Baptist Church in 2003, where he serves as a dedicated leader and faithful member under Reverend Dr. Isaac J. Holt Jr.; and

 

Whereas, he married the love of his life, Reverend Dr. Patricia Holmes Reed, on Valentine's day in 2017, they have four daughters, grands and great-grands; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor Reverend Reed on the celebration of his seventy-fifth birthday and join with his family and friends in congratulating him on reaching this delightful milestone.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Reverend Frank Reed of Charleston County on the occasion of his seventy-fifth birthday and wish him a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Frank Reed.
