VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A house RESOLUTION
to recognize and honor the oceanside collegiate academy girls tennis team, coaches, and school officials for a remarkable season and to congratulate them for winning the 2024 south Carolina class AAA state championship title.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Oceanside Collegiate tennis team of Charleston County, captured their fourth consecutive state title on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Cayce Tennis Center in Columbia; and
Whereas, to the delight of their faithful fans, the Oceanside Collegiate Lady Landsharks had an impressive victory over Christ Church Episcopal High School 4-3, to establish their team as a Lowcountry powerhouse with a fourth state trophy; and
Whereas, going into the match, the team knew it was going to be tough and very competitive because Christ Church has a very talented team and has won multiple state championships, but the Lady Landsharks were prepared and ready for the hard-fought battle. In keeping with their performance all season, the team played hard and with a purpose to win the match lasting more than five hours; and
Whereas, losing multiple seniors from the team's lineup next year, Oceanside Collegiate promised to be a state title contender again in 2025; and
Whereas, in a sport that exacts strength and speed acquired through rigorous training, Head Coach Shawn Harris and his skilled staff used their own athletic ability and training to build a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes life principals that will last beyond the courts; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition that the Oceanside Collegiate tennis players have brought to their school and their community and look forward to following their continued exploits in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Oceanside Collegiate Academy girls tennis team, coaches, and school officials for a remarkable season and congratulate them for winning the 2024 South Carolina Class AAA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Christina Brown and Coach Shawn Harris.
