A house RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE Goldie Abson Davis OF darlington COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDRED THird BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Goldie Abson Davis will celebrate her one hundred third birthday on March 15, 2025; and

Whereas, born on March 15, 1922, in the first quarter of the twentieth century, she has witnessed the many remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from that time into the first quarter of the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, reared in a hard-working and loving family, Mrs. Davis was the ninth daughter of ten siblings born to Willie and Sally Coe Abson, and she attended Darlington County schools through the third grade; and

Whereas, she and her beloved husband, the late Milton Bud Davis, were married in 1938, and together they reared thirteen children. She worked on the farm for half of her life; and

Whereas, without a license or formal training, Mrs. Davis taught a sort of mathematics through her example, not in a school classroom but in her community, when she added the values of love and hard work to her life; subtracted a can't do attitude from her mind; multiplied these concepts in her home, church, and community; and divided them among her children; and

Whereas, a virtuous, humble, and quiet woman, she is a faithful member of Lawson Grove Baptist Church in Hartsville where she serves as the mother of the Lawson Grove Baptist Church family. She loves the Lord and has done "good and not evil all the days of her life"; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her one hundred third birthday and join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Goldie Abson Davis of Darlington County on the occasion of her one hundred third birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Goldie Abson Davis.
