A concurrent RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MAJOR CHRISTINA C. HARRIS, USAF, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AFTER TWENTY YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO HER COUNTRY, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly have learned that Major Christina C. Harris will begin a well-deserved retirement on May 1, 2025, after two decades of skilled leadership and distinguished service to the United States Air Force; and

 

Whereas, a Charleston native, Ms. Harris graduated from Goose Creek High School and continued her education at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, graduating in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in humanities. She furthered her education at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, earning a master's degree in professional counseling and psychology.  She is a nationally certified counselor and a licensed professional counselor associate in South Carolina; and

 

Whereas, Maj. Harris began her military career in 2005 as the Officer-In-Charge, Customer Support, with 11th Mission Support Squadron at the Pentagon.  Her storied career would later include deployments to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.  Throughout her military career, she held a multitude of executive positions: deputy regional director at the United States Air Force Academy; deputy sexual assault response coordinator, 42nd Air Base Wing, Maxwell AFB, Alabama; director, manpower and personnel, USAF Warfare Center, Nellis AFB, Nevada; operations officer, 99th Force Support Squadron, Nellis AFB;  and deputy commander, 379th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron, Al Udeid AB, Qatar.  Since 2020, she has served as headquarters section commander of the Ninth Air Force (Air Forces Central) at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter; and

 

Whereas, Maj. Harris has garnered numerous honors for her remarkable service, multiple achievements, and scores of contributions to her country.  She was the Air Force Central Command Sexual Assault Coordinator of the Year in 2016 and was named USAF Force Support Field Grade Officer of the Year in 2019. The Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air and Space Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air and Space Outstanding Unit Award with six Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and Air and Space Longevity Service Award with five Oak Leaf Clusters are just a few of the major's other awards. With her extensive experience in leadership and management of large, diverse, military and civilian organizations, the major is adept at conflict resolution and problem solving.  Her life's mission is to nurture others to thrive; and

 

Whereas, Major Harris is the proud mother of three wonderful boys, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Elijah.  She plans to spend her retirement years enjoying time with her family and continuing service to the veteran and service member population by offering mental health benefits using protocols such as equine psychotherapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, art therapy, and talk therapy; and

 

Whereas, grateful for her many years of distinguished service to the United States military, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly take great pleasure in extending best wishes to Major Christina C. Harris as she transitions to a richly deserved retirement.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

 

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Major Christina C. Harris, USAF, upon the occasion of her retirement after twenty years of exemplary service, and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Major Christina C. Harris.
