A house RESOLUTION

TO CELEBRATE THE HEATHWOOD HALL SHOTGUN TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A SUPERB SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION/SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE FOR SPORTING CLAYS.

Whereas, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, the Heathwood Hall shotgun team took home the crown for sporting clays at the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA)/South Carolina Department of Natural Resources state tournament, held at the National Wild Turkey Federation's Palmetto Shooting Complex in Edgefield; and

Whereas, in a fine display of skill in a sport that requires extreme precision, control, and mental focus, the Lady Highlanders showed out like the champions they are and made it back-to-back state wins, to the delight of their exuberant fans; and

Whereas, having been trained to championship caliber by Head Coach Jason Giovanonne and his able staff, these young Heathwood athletes, led this year by Laila Koon, Lila Koon, and Riley Livingston, defeated an outstanding field of competitors; and

Whereas, this same trio of team members, competing also in the Ladies Senior Varsity School Division, placed first in that division, as well; and

Whereas, during the state competition, senior Riley Livingston was the HOA (High Overall) for the SCISA and school divisions, a distinction that earned her a scholarship of two thousand dollars; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives proudly salutes the members of the Heathwood Hall shotgun team and looks with anticipation to learning of their future achievements. Go, Lady Highlanders! Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the Heathwood Hall shotgun team, coaches, and school officials for a superb season and congratulate them on winning the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association/South Carolina Department of Natural Resources State Championship title for sporting clays.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of School Chris Hinchey and Head Coach Jason Giovanonne of Heathwood Hall.
