A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR COURTNEY A. TKACS OF LEXINGTON COUNTY AND TO CONGRATULATE HER FOR BEING ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE STUDENT BODY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Courtney Tkacs has been elected president of the University of South Carolina student body for the 2025-2026 school year; and
Whereas, the daughter of Bryan and Melissa Tkacs, and brother of Kody Tkacs, Courtney is a rising senior in the South Carolina Honors College, where she is double-majoring in public health and political science, with aspirations to attend law school; and
Whereas, Courtney grew up in a military family and lived various places around the world before her family settled in Lexington. In 2022 she graduated from River Bluff High School, where her activities included the 2022 "We the People" state competition-winning team, National Honor Society, Student Council, varsity track and field, and cross country teams, among others; and
Whereas, at USC, Courtney has thrived academically while also serving as vice president of the student body, Speaker of the Student Senate Chief of Staff, and member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Phi Delta Phi prelaw fraternity, Student Life Ambassador, Freshman Council, and Hacky Sack Club; and
Whereas, Courtney's interest in student government stems from her belief that an important part of campus health is having a strong community, which she found in her student organization involvement.
Student government service also has enabled Courtney to better her community, something she is inspired to do by her father's example and the servant's heart she inherited from him; and
Whereas, as the president of the USC student body, Courtney plans to advocate for all students by prioritizing quality academics and advising, providing safe spaces, and maximizing the student experience. She also plans to promote student awareness of available resources and student government initiatives; and
Whereas, in addition to her other commitments, Courtney has become a familiar face at the State House over the past three years while she has served as a page and an intern in the research department at Legislative Council, where she has provided outstanding service to the General Assembly; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the significant work facing Courtney Tkacs as USC student body president, wish her every success as she embraces the challenges of the role in the coming year, and look forward to hearing of her further achievements in the years to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Courtney A. Tkacs of Lexington County and congratulate her for being elected president of the student body of the University of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Courtney A. Tkacs.
