A house RESOLUTION
TO HONOR GREATER GREENWOOD UNITED MINISTRY AT THE CELEBRATION OF ITS THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY, TO THANK THIS FINE ORGANIZATION FOR ITS THREE DECADES OF WORTHY SERVICE, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF BLESSING IN SERVIng THE GREENWOOD COMMUNITY.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Greater Greenwood United Ministry (GGUM) is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary of service to the Greenwood community. For three decades, Greater Greenwood United Ministry has provided assistance for those in life and medical crisis in the Greenwood community. The organization opened its doors in January 1995 with seventeen charter churches that formed a partnership and provided ministry funding; and
Whereas, today, the ministry is funded by over sixty-five partner churches; individual donations; grants, including a clinic grant from Self Regional Healthcare; and the Music for Ministry fundraiser. The Crisis Ministry continues to assist with rent evictions and utility disconnections and offers an emergency food pantry and intervention programs to encourage self-sustainability for the individual or family. The GGUM Free Medical Clinic, open five days per week, provides four clinics. Services have grown to include primary medical, internal medicine, and gynecology, as well as an in-house pharmacy, laboratory, the Women's Health Clinic, diabetic education and coaching, vision services through a partnership with the Greenwood Lions Club, dental extractions, a mobile health clinic, and disease prevention and wellness services. God continues to bless Greater Greenwood United Ministry and its team of dedicated volunteers and staff, who extend Jesus' hand to "the least of these." Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Greater Greenwood United Ministry at the celebration of its thirtieth anniversary, thank this fine organization for its three decades of worthy service, and extend best wishes for many more years of blessing in serving the Greenwood community.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Greater Greenwood United Ministry.
