A house RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE FREIDA ANN SCYPHERS RAWL JODIE ON THE OCCASION OF HER ninetieth  BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that  Freida Ann Scyphers Rawl Jodie will celebrate her ninetieth birthday on April 15, 2025, surrounded by family and friends to honor this gracious lady on the happy occasion of the ninetieth anniversary of the day she entered this world; and

 

Whereas, born early in the twentieth century, she has witnessed the many remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from that time into the first quarter of the twenty-first century; and

 

Whereas, Mrs. Jodie is the proud mother of five delightful children: Otis Bodie Rawl Jr., married to Melissa Caughman; Paula Ann Rawl Calhoon, married to Donald Vinson Myers; Debra Kaye Rawl Hester, married to Vernon Glenn; Cynthia Lynn Rawl Konduros, married to Gregory James; and Carrie Lee Rawl Bowen, married to Patrick Kevin; and

 

Whereas, her children blessed her with the affection of eleven loving grandchildren: Anna Rawl Good Browder, Aaron Thomas Rawl, Mikel Brooks Hester Williams, Jacob Rawl Hester, Ashley Calhoon Ferrell Sims, Sandra Lee Calhoon Watson, the late James Ian Calhoon; Ann Malek Konduros Wooten; James Gregory Konduros, Alexandra Lee Bowen Chalk, and Cory Elizabeth Bowen Hunter. She has had the joy of seeing her loving family legacy continued in the lives of eighteen great-grandchildren; and

 

Whereas, Mrs. Jodie enjoyed many years of wedded bliss with her first husband, Otis Bodie Rawl Sr. After the passing of her dear first husband, she became the devoted wife of Joseph Lewis Jodie; and

 

Whereas, over the course of her career, this lady of many and varied talents was employed as an instructor at Sandy Run Academy, an assistant librarian, an at-risk management instructor with Lexington School District One, and a clothier with the family-owned Mikel's. Recently, she has taken senior status with both the Lexington Garden Club and the Country Club of Lexington; and

 

Whereas, Mrs. Jodie, affectionately known to her family as "Mama Ann," holds that all citizens should contribute to the welfare of their respective communities, and she sets an example in this area that is worthy of emulation: in serving and dedicating time to family and friends, greeting patrons at a family-owned restaurant called Private Property, assisting a friend who owns a ladies' apparel store, and directing weddings; and

 

Whereas, she also has organized the annual church golf outing, special occasions, and culinary events, and she has served on various committees and has sung in the choir at her beloved St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church; moreover, she is a blue ribbon gardener; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina, a loving wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother at the celebration of her ninetieth birthday and join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Freida Ann Scyphers Rawl Jodie on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Freida Ann Scyphers Rawl Jodie.
