A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE THE north central high SCHOOL volleyball TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE 2024 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS aa volleyball STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the North Central High School volleyball team for winning the 2024 South Carolina Class AA volleyball state championship on November 16, 2024 at Dreher High School; and

 

Whereas, this historic win marks the program's first state championship in school history; and

 

Whereas, in the championship game, North Central High School defeated Ninety-Six High School with a 3-0 win; and

 

Whereas, this title is the second state championship for a team sport in school history, joining the 1999 North Central softball team state championship win; and

 

Whereas, with an exceptional season overall, the team had a season record of 33-0-1, with the lone tie coming against First Presbyterian High School in a September 2024 tournament; and

 

Whereas, North Central's team members include Gabby Anderson, Bailee Baker, Addie Bittner, Catie Bittner, Aubrey Dixon, Mya Elliott, Mary Norwood, Charleston Parker, Aubrey Taylor, Laykin Truesdale, Bella Wallick; and

 

Whereas, North Central has made three championship appearances since 2021, included an especially close championship loss in five sets to St. Joseph High School. Two of the team's seniors, Addie Bittner and Mary Norwood, remember the close loss from their freshman year and were especially overjoyed to end their senior year season with the championship win; and

 

Whereas, the North Central High School volleyball team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Coaches Andy Johnson and Nicole Gainey; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the North Central High School volleyball team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the North Central High School volleyball team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South Carolina Class AA volleyball state championship.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the North Central High School volleyball team, Coaches Andy Johnson and Nicole Gainey, and Principal David Branham.
