A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE Irene Jackson Jones of Richland COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER ninetieTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are delighted to learn that Irene Jackson Jones of the Hickory Ridge community will celebrate her ninetieth birthday on March 10, 2025; and

 

Whereas, born on March 10, 1935, in the early part of the twentieth century, she has witnessed the many remarkable social changes, technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from that time into the first quarter of the twenty-first century; and

 

Whereas, Irene Jackson was born in Gibsland, Louisiana, to the late Smith Jackson Sr. and Gracie Sneed Jackson. She is a true and faithful woman of God who has been involved in the church her entire life; and

 

Whereas, together with her beloved husband, the late Woodrow W. Jones, she traveled the world as a military wife and relocated to Fort Jackson in the early 1980s; and

 

Whereas, for twenty-four years, Mrs. Jones worked at Moncrief Army Community Hospital at Fort Jackson, where her service has been honored with the placing of her picture on the hospital's Wall of Fame; and

 

Whereas, the matriarch of five generations, Mrs. Jones is the mother of five loving daughters: Linda, Deborah, Gwendolyn, Cynthia, and Chequita. She also has been blessed with the affection of seven adoring grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; and

 

Whereas, a faithful member of the Progressive Believers' Baptist Church in Columbia, she serves as the congregation's church mother; and

 

Whereas, Mrs. Jones has been an active member of the Hickory Ridge Neighborhood Association for more than thirty years. Known as an excellent cook and baker, she is a constant friend, considerate neighbor, trusted confidant, and wise advisor; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her ninetieth birthday and join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Irene Jackson Jones of Richland County on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Irene Jackson Jones.
