A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Jodi Dials Gallman, the former acting director of the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AFTER more than forty years OF OUTSTANDINg SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives have learned that Jodi Dials Gallman began a well-deserved retirement after four decades with the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services (SCDPPPS), the last of which had been as a distinguished and highly regarded acting director of the department; and

 

Whereas, Ms. Gallman earned a bachelor's degree in exercise management from Winthrop University in 1975 and a degree as a certified public manager in 2021; and

 

Whereas, she began her employment with SCDPPPS in 1994 as a Probation/Parole Supervisor I, and beginning in 1997, she served two years as a coordinator of general supervision; and

 

Whereas, from 1999 to 2005, Ms. Gallman served as the agent-in-charge of the Richland County office of SCDPPPS. In 2005, she began serving as the director for community affairs for SCDPPPS, a position she held until 2011 when she was promoted to serve as the director of executive programs and policy management; and

 

Whereas, in 2017, she became the chief deputy of SCDPPPS, serving as a senior advisor to the director and having ancillary oversight for the department's daily operations. She was responsible for strategic planning, cultivating community partnerships, and ensuring that the agency resources were most effectively and efficiently used; and

 

Whereas, in October of 2023, Ms. Gallman became the acting director of SCDPPPS. She was responsible for the department, supervised all staff functions, and ensured that all policies and procedures were followed. She served as the final authority for the department, leading over seven hundred forty law enforcement professionals statewide; and

 

Whereas, before she retired from her role as acting director, she collaborated with other South Carolina law enforcement departments as needed and monitored the department's budget and expenditures; and

 

Whereas, her many achievements at SCDPPPS include serving on the committee to develop the mission statement and motto for SCDPPPS and on the committee to design the first agency exhibit at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. She also served on the seventy-fifth anniversary committee; and

 

Whereas, Ms. Gallman's outstanding service has been honored with inclusion in Who's Who Young Women of America and Outstanding Young Women of America, the Delta Sigma Theta Service Award, Youthful Offender Agent of the Year, and Jack and Jill Mother of the Year. She is also a graduate of the Governor's Excel Leadership Institute; and

 

Whereas, grateful for her many years of distinguished service to SCDPPPS, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in extending best wishes to Jodi Gallman as she transitions to a richly deserved retirement and the leisurely pace of the days ahead, and the members wish her many years of enjoyment in her well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Jodi Dials Gallman, the former acting director of the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, upon the occasion of her retirement after more than forty years of outstanding service, and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Jodi Dials Gallman.
