Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Landon Cale Bodie of Leesville on September 27, 2024, at the age of 18; and
Whereas, born on February 13, 2006, Landon was a recent graduate of Blythewood High School, where he served as an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and developed a love for agriculture. His passion for working with his hands led him to spend countless hours alongside his grandfather, Wayne Bodie, honing his carpentry skills and creating memories that will be treasured forever; and
Whereas, Landon had a deep connection with the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing in his spare time. In addition to his many hobbies, Landon dedicated his time to serving others as a volunteer firefighter with the Circle Fire Department. His commitment to helping those in need and protecting his community was a testament to his selflessness and bravery; and
Whereas, he leaves to cherish his memory his mother and stepfather, Sylvia and Steven Crout; his siblings, Ellie and Everette Crout; his grandparents, Wayne and Sharon Bodie, and Joe and Brenda Crout; his great-grandmothers, Annie Fae Gulledge and Thelma Gable; and a host of extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, Donald Ray Bodie and Kenneth Gulledge, as well as by his great-great-grandparents, Ophelia and Jack Clark; and
Whereas, Landon will be remembered for his warm smile, his generous spirit, and his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
