A house RESOLUTION

 

TO HONOR THE LIFE AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF PROMINENT AFRICAN STATESMAN HIS EXCELLENCY SEN. DOUYE DIRI, GOVERNOR OF BAYELSA STATE IN NIGERIA.

 

Whereas, His Excellency Governor Douye Diri has emerged as a transformative leader in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, spearheading a wave of infrastructural and economic development that is redefining the state's future; and

 

Whereas, his administration has prioritized critical road networks, notably the Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie Road and the nearly completed Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, which connect once-isolated riverine communities to the state capital. Further, under his leadership, the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road has been completed, bringing unprecedented access and economic opportunities to rural areas; and

 

Whereas, beyond infrastructure, Governor Diri has championed education by establishing well-equipped science, technical, and vocational colleges, ensuring that the young people of Bayelsa acquire the skills needed to thrive in a competitive world; and

 

Whereas, moreover, his visionary strides in healthcare, including the expansion of the Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme, have set a new benchmark for accessible and affordable medical care in the state. These efforts reflect his deep commitment to not only governance but also the well-being and prosperity of his people; and

 

Whereas, a strong believer in youth empowerment and talent development, Governor Diri has strategically invested in sports, fostering an environment where young people can excel both on and off the field. Plans are already in place for a state-of-the-art stadium in Yenagoa, signaling a new era for sports and recreation in Bayelsa; and

 

Whereas, his leadership and dedication have not gone unnoticed, as he has been recognized with prestigious honors, including the People's Governor of the Year award and the Best-Performing Governor Award for South-South Nigeria. These accolades affirm his unwavering focus on progressive governance, economic growth, and inclusive development. Governor Diri stands as a beacon of hope, proving that with the right vision and leadership, Bayelsa State can achieve remarkable transformation. His tenure continues to inspire confidence, positioning Bayelsa as a model of sustainable development in Nigeria. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor the life and achievements of prominent African statesman His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri, governor of Bayelsa State in Nigeria.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri.
