A house RESOLUTION

 

TO HONOR PASTOR JAMES C. WOODLEY OF GILL CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH IN COLUMBIA ON THE OCCASION OF HIS TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF GOSPEL MINISTRY AT GILL CREEK AND TO EXTEND TO HIM BEST WISHES FOR GOD'S RICHEST BLESSINGS AS HE CONTINUES TO SERVE THE LORD.

 

Whereas, it is entirely appropriate to honor those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves to nurture the souls of men. Pastor James C. Woodley of Gill Creek Baptist Church in Columbia stands among their number as an outstanding minister of the gospel, one much admired by colleagues, congregations, and area residents at large; and

 

Whereas, in 2006, God called James C. Woodley to serve as pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Paterson, New Jersey. As only the second undershepherd in Friendship's thirty-year history, he faithfully served its congregation for more than nine years. In December 2014, Pastor Woodley answered God's call to serve as senior pastor of Gill Creek Baptist Church in Columbia, and he is now celebrating ten years of shepherding God's flock at Gill Creek; and

 

Whereas, in preparation for his ministry, Pastor Woodley earned his bachelor's degree from the College of New Rochelle, a master's degree in divinity from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, and a postgraduate degree (EdS in Marriage and Family Therapy) from Seton Hall University. Further, he studied formational counseling at Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio; and

 

Whereas, in addition to his service as a minister, Pastor Woodley has served in the field of mental health, assisting individuals and families in crisis, and he is the sole proprietor of Family-Ties Counseling Services. God has truly blessed Pastor Woodley with unique talents in teaching and preaching the Word of God, as well as in counseling the people of God. He has a passion for ministering to God's people and a hunger for learning and presenting God's Word as a servant of the Lord; and

 

Whereas, in recognition of his outstanding ministry, Gill Creek's members will celebrate Pastor Woodley's service to the church and community and his tenth anniversary as Gill Creek's pastor with a banquet on Saturday, March 8, 2025; and

 

Whereas, because of his many years of spiritual nourishment of the people of South Carolina, James Woodley is due grateful thanks and best wishes as he continues to run the race the Lord has set before him. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Pastor James C. Woodley of Gill Creek Baptist Church in Columbia on the occasion of his tenth anniversary of gospel ministry at Gill Creek and extend to him best wishes for God's richest blessings as he continues to serve the Lord.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor James C. Woodley.
