A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE RIVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY WINTER GUARD FOR CAPTURING THE BRONZE MEDAL AT THE 2025 WINTER GUARD INTERNATIONAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM ON ITS EXEMPLARY PERFORMANCE AND HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of young South Carolinians who strive for excellence and bring national recognition to their schools and communities; and

Whereas, the River Bluff High School varsity winter guard earned the bronze medal at the prestigious 2025 Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, competing against more than one hundred thirty groups in Scholastic A Class; and

Whereas, this achievement, a historic milestone for Lexington County School District One, as well as for River Bluff, marks the school as the first in its district to earn a medal at the WGI World Championships. River Bluff was moreover the only group from the State of South Carolina to advance to the Scholastic A finals; and

Whereas, through extraordinary discipline, talent, and perseverance, the winter guard team earned promotion to WGI Open Class, making them one of only two Open Class units in the entire State-a rare and exceptional distinction that speaks volumes for their dedication and skill; and

Whereas, in winning the title of WGI World Championships A Class bronze medalists, the 2025 River Bluff varsity winter guard has earned an accolade achieved not only through hard work and countless hours of preparation but also through their collective heart, perseverance, and unwavering determination; and

Whereas, it took the expert and passionate leadership of Katie Sightler, Sarah Underwood, and Jarrett Rampley; the steadfast support of Assistant Band Director Ted Tinker and Director of Bands Kevin Hebert; and the invaluable contributions of parent volunteers and boosters to enable these outstanding young women to excel so remarkably, both on the performance floor and in life; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in applauding the accomplishments of these impressive student-performers, all of whom have brought great pride and recognition to their school, community, and the entire Palmetto State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the River Bluff High School varsity winter guard for capturing the bronze medal at the 2025 Winter Guard International World Championships and congratulate the team on its exemplary performance and historic achievement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Katie Sightler, varsity winter guard director, and Principal Jacob Smith of River Bluff High School.
