A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE VELOS STORM HIGH SCHOOL ARCHERY TEAM AND COACHES FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025 NATIONAL ARCHERY IN THE SCHOOLS PROGRAM STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN BULLSEYE.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Velos Storm high school archery team, representing the South Carolina Upcountry, captured first place in bullseye at the 2025 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State Championship, held in Columbia on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, for high school teams and assisted by officers from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources; and

 

Whereas, to the delight of their exuberant fans, the Velos Storm archers delivered exceptional performances across all divisions. With impressive team and individual accomplishments, these young archers are now preparing for nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, this May. Moreover, their sights are set on the 2025 world championships, scheduled for this June in Myrtle Beach; and

 

Whereas, at the title event, team members Liddy Bruner, Liliana Groth, Levi Miller, Lydia Huddle, Eliza Townsend, and David Cline shone in their respective competitions. To make a sweet victory even sweeter, senior Liddy Bruner was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the Harry Hampton Fund for having the second-highest senior score, and Rebecca Huddle won a $1,000 senior drawing scholarship, also from the Harry Hampton Fund; and

 

Whereas, in a sport that requires precision and strength, Head Coach Patrick Pusateri and Program Manager/Coach Colleen Pusateri capitalized on their own athletic experience and passion to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable throughout life; and

 

Whereas, with their dominant performance, the Velos Storm high school archers remain a Tier 1 team heading into nationals in May; and

 

Whereas, Velos Storm archery is founded on faith, sportsmanship, and excellence, guided by their team verse, Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." In every competition, archers and coaches strive to embody this principle in representing their team and values; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives values the pride and recognition that the Velos Storm archers have brought to this great State, and the members look forward to following the further achievements of these fine athletes in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Velos Storm high school archery team and coaches for an extraordinary season and congratulate them for winning the 2025 National Archery in the Schools Program State Championship title in bullseye.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Patrick Pusateri and Program Manager/Coach Colleen Pusateri.
