The Corinthian columns of the State House are among the largest columns in the world. They are monolithic (cut from a single piece of stone) and stand 43 feet high. Each column weighs 37 tons.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


THE CARVED FASCES

These beautiful hand-carved marble fasces stand guard on either side of the front door of the State House. Fasces is defined as a bundle of wooden rods with an axe blade included. The fasces symbolize power and authority.
