A Bill to amend Section 59-26-20, as amended, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to the duties of the State Board of Education and the Commission on Higher Education in regard to certain educational matters including a requirement that a basic skills examination be developed which students must successfully complete before final admittance into an undergraduate teacher education program, so as to provide that a student may take this examination more than three times upon meeting certain requirements, and to provide for requirements students who have not passed the examination must meet in order to engage in practice teaching.
