A Bill to amend Chapter 11 of Title 19, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to competency of witnesses, by adding Section 19-11-95 so as to define health care professional; to provide that medical information concerning the physical or mental condition of a patient is privileged information, to provide instances in which the privilege is waived as to the health care professional, to provide that any health care professional is not liable for the release of the information to authorized persons, and to include in the exceptions to the privilege, the release of medical records of a patient covered by a health insurance program which has contracted with a professional review organization to review its program.
