TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND DR. MICHAEL CAFARO FOR HIS OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AS PRINCIPAL OF GEORGETOWN HIGH SCHOOL; TO THANK HIM FOR HIS DEDICATION TO THE SCHOOL'S STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF; AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Dr. Michael Cafaro, principal of Georgetown High School, has consistently demonstrated leadership qualities that make for excellence in any school under his aegis; and
Whereas, the vision of Georgetown High School is to meet the educational needs of each student in a caring environment while emphasizing the importance of graduating from high school with a diploma. Since his installation as principal in 2001, Dr. Cafaro has sought successfully to nurture and make this vision a reality at Georgetown High; and
Whereas, in preparation for his career in education, Dr. Cafaro obtained his bachelor's degree and his master's of arts in education at the University of North Carolina-Pembroke. He earned his doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University and served as a teacher and an administrator at various schools in North Carolina prior to becoming principal of Georgetown High School; and
Whereas, during his career, he has received numerous accolades, including Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year; and
Whereas, under his leadership, Georgetown High has been granted such honors as the Palmetto Silver Award and Palmetto Gold Award; and
Whereas, while the entire community is thankful to this committed administrator for his labors on behalf of Georgetown High's students, the members of the Anderson family wish to express their particular gratitude to Dr. Cafaro for allowing them to honor Airman First Class Carl L. Anderson, Jr., through a scholarship that has been established at the school for the past seven years; and
Whereas, cognizant that Dr. Cafaro has set the bar of achievement high and earned the respect of administrative colleagues, faculty, students, and parents, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in thanking him for his many contributions to the education of South Carolina's young people, this great state's most precious resource. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Dr. Michael Cafaro for his outstanding leadership as principal of Georgetown High School; thank him for his dedication to the school's students, faculty, and staff; and wish him well in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Dr. Michael Cafaro.
