VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-17-145 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT BEGINNING JULY 1, 2012, A SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THIS STATE MAY NOT PAY MEMBERSHIP DUES OR FEES TO ANY EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION OR ORGANIZATION AND INSTEAD IS REQUIRED TO REDIRECT ANY SUCH FUNDING AVAILABLE TO CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 17, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-17-145. Beginning July 1, 2012, a school district of this State may not pay membership dues or fees to any educational association or organization and instead is required to redirect any such funding available to classroom instruction."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
