The House assembled at 12:00 Noon.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

As we stand, O Lord, on the threshold of a new Legislative year, we invoke Your all-wise presence not only now, but also in all the days ahead. Enable us at all time to:

remember in gratitude those who helped us

come to this day;

to look with understanding at all that we

serve, even those beyond our respective

Districts;

to offer help without favoritism;

to seek help without apologizing;

to hear those who think a lot but seldom

speak.

Grant us wisdom, Lord, as we start a fresh new slate. We ask not for tasks more suited to our ability, but for ability more suited for our task.

Amen.

Pursuant to Rule 6.3, the House of Representatives was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by the SPEAKER.
