TO EXPRESS THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF MRS. BETTY M. MOORE, FORMER DIRECTOR OF REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS FOR SPARTANBURG COUNTY, WHO DIED ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 1992.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Betty M. Moore, former director of registration and elections for Spartanburg County, who died on Wednesday, February 5, 1992; and
Whereas, Mrs. Moore retired as elections director last June; and
Whereas, she had worked for the county for thirty-four years; and
Whereas, in addition to her active involvement with the election process in this State, she was asked by the Federal Election Commission to make presentations in other states concerning overhauling election systems; and
Whereas, Betty Moore demonstrated her ability, dedication, and direction to the registration and election office; and
Whereas, she had received many awards, including Friend of the Library Award, Spartanburg Woman of the Year presented by the Spartanburg Business and Professional Women, and the National Association of Counties Award for excellence in registration and election procedures in South Carolina; and
Whereas, Mrs. Moore leaves a void that will not be easily replaced or forgotten; and
Whereas, Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Marshall Bland Moore, a daughter, Jeanne Helton, and a sister, Marion M. Coan. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly wish to express their sympathy to the family and friends of Mrs. Betty M. Moore, former director of registration and elections for Spartanburg County, who died on Wednesday, February 5, 1992.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to her husband, Marshall Bland Moore.
