TO CONGRATULATE DOUGLAS ANTHONY MILLER OF LEXINGTON COUNTY FOR HIS MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND HIS OUTSTANDING ATHLETIC CAREER AT GILBERT HIGH SCHOOL.
Whereas, Douglas Anthony Miller of Lexington County is the son of Dozier and Elaine Miller; and
Whereas, Douglas, a senior at Gilbert High School, has been a dedicated, hard-working student and athlete; and
Whereas, he has received numerous awards and has been recognized for many athletic accomplishments; and
Whereas, Douglas has had an outstanding football career and as a middle linebacker he has been selected for the following football teams: All-State 1990-91; All-Area 1989-90 and 1990-91; All-County 1990-91; and Region IV-AA All-Conference 1989-90 and 1990-91; and
Whereas, he has also received many state and regional track and weightlifting awards, and he received the Coaches' Award in weightlifting for 1989-90; and
Whereas, Douglas has also excelled in the classroom where he is thirty-fifth in his class of one hundred fifteen; he plans to go to Clemson University where he wants to study forestry and coaching, as well as play football; and
Whereas, he has been an outstanding student leader and has been chosen to be a member of the Society of Distinguished American High School Students, Who's Who Among American High School Students, and Who's Who in Sports; and
Whereas, Douglas Miller has achieved these many accomplishments through endless hours of practice and dedication and with the support of his parents, coaches, and friends; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize the achievements of this talented young man. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina congratulate Douglas Anthony Miller of Lexington County for his many accomplishments and his outstanding athletic career at Gilbert High School and commend him for his dedication and striving for excellence.
