AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 285 OF 1987, RELATING TO THE CREATION OF A REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS COMMISSION FOR PICKENS COUNTY, SO AS TO INCREASE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COMMISSION FROM FIVE TO SEVEN.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Commission created, membership
SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 285 of 1987 is amended to read:
"Section 1. There is created the Registration and Elections Commission for Pickens County. There are seven members of the commission who must be appointed by a majority of the Pickens County Legislative Delegation, including the resident Senators, who are appointed for terms of two years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies on the commission may be filled by appointment in the manner of original appointment for the unexpired terms only. The members of the commission shall receive compensation as may be appropriated by the county council."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
