EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE WILLIAM GEDDINGS, SR., OF SPRINGDALE IN LEXINGTON COUNTY.
Whereas, the members of the Senate were saddened to note the passing on January 17, 1994, of Mr. William R. Geddings, Sr., of Springdale in Lexington County; and
Whereas, Mr. Geddings, a native of Columbia, graduated from the University of South Carolina and served his country in World War II, the Korean War, and the Viet Nam War, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, having served in Military Intelligence, the Air Transport Command, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Air Force European Headquarters, European Command Headquarters, Air Defense Command, Fifth Air Force, Seventh Air Force, tactical Air Command, and the Air Force Commandos; and
Whereas, Mr. Geddings was an executive director of the Columbia Housing Authority, president of the Springdale Republican Precinct, board member of the Methodist Elderly Housing Corporation of Lexington County, and a member of Platt Springs United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the Finance Board; and
Whereas, Mr. Geddings was also a reporter for the State Newspaper, an economics instructor, former president of the Faculty Association of South Carolina Area Trade Schools, and former chairman of the Springdale Planning Commission; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they might note the passing of so distinguished a son of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate extends sympathy to the family and many friends of the late William Geddings, Sr., of Springdale in Lexington County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his wife, Mrs. Lois Marie Braddock Geddings.
