AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 1-30-10, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE INTERIM DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE GOVERNOR MAY APPOINT THE INTERIM DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AS THE PERMANENT DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Interim director may be appointed permanent director
SECTION 1. Section 1-30-10(F)(4) of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 181 of 1993, is amended to read:
"(4) Notwithstanding provisions of (2) and (3) to the contrary, the initial interim director of the Department of Public Safety shall be appointed by the Budget and Control Board. The initial interim director may be appointed as the permanent director of the department by the Governor."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
