The House assembled at 12:00 Noon.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
As we stand in the doorway of a new Legislative year, enable us, O Lord, to place our hands in Yours and say in confidence: "Where You lead, I will follow." Give us vision to see clearly Your way, and the wisdom and the determination to follow it. Cause us to keep secure in our minds the truth of him who said: "Service is the rent we pay God for living." And in this knowledge, help us to reach higher, to run longer and to lift heavier loads.
We know that we cannot do everything, but inspire us to do something. Amen.
Pursuant to Rule 6.3, the House of Representatives was led in the Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by the SPEAKER.
Rep. MEACHAM moved that when the House adjourns, it adjourn in memory of Hugh White of Fort Mill, which was agreed to.
Rep. WILKINS moved that upon the completion of the Introduction of Bills, the House stand adjourned, which was agreed to.
