A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE THAT FOR THE 1995-96 SCHOOL YEAR, THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF OCONEE COUNTY IS EXEMPTED FROM THE REQUIREMENT THAT SCHOOL DAYS MISSED MUST BE MADE UP AS A RESULT OF COMPLICATIONS RESULTING FROM SNOW OR ICE OR OTHER EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Make-up of missed school days; exemption, etc.
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding Section 59-1-430 of the 1976 Code of Laws or any other provision of law, and for the 1995-96 school year only, the School District of Oconee County is exempted from the requirement that school days missed because of snow or ice or other extreme weather conditions must be made up.
The provisions of this joint resolution apply to (1) the school days of February 5 and 6, 1996, which were missed because of complications resulting from a winter storm and (2) any other school days following February 6, 1996, missed because of snow or ice or other extreme weather conditions as considered necessary by the superintendent of the School District of Oconee County and approved by the board of trustees of the district, and, in accordance with the provisions of this joint resolution, these various days shall not be made up.
Time effective
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
