AN ACT TO ESTABLISH A UNIFORM FILING PERIOD FOR CANDIDATES FOR TRUSTEES TO THE SCHOOL BOARDS IN YORK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS 1, 2, 3, AND 4.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Uniform filing date
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, beginning with elections conducted in 1996, each candidate for election as a trustee to the school boards in York County School Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 must file his statement of candidacy with the Registration and Elections Commission for York County for the period beginning no earlier than 12:00 noon on August first and ending no later than 12:00 noon on August thirty-first. However, if either of these dates falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the date is extended until 12:00 noon of the next succeeding day which is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday.
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
