A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 16-21-20, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE OFFENSE OF PERMITTING MISUSE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION, LICENSE PLATE, OR CERTIFICATE OF TITLE AND FAILURE TO MAKE TIMELY DELIVERY OF A CERTIFICATE OF TITLE, SO AS TO INCREASE FROM TEN DAYS TO FORTY-FIVE DAYS THE TIME TO DELIVER A TITLE BEFORE THE OFFENSE APPLIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Items (2) and (3) of Section 16-21-20 of the 1976 Code are amended to read:

"(2) Wilfully fails to mail or deliver a certificate of title or application therefor to the Department within ten forty-five days after the time required by Chapter 19 of Title 56;

(3) Wilfully fails to deliver to his transferee a certificate of title within ten forty-five days after the time required by Chapter 19 of Title 56; or"

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
