TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE SALUDA HIGH MARCHING TIGER BAND UPON WINNING THE 1994 AA STATE MARCHING BAND CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased and delighted to learn that the Saluda High Marching Tiger Band has again won the AA State Marching Band Championship; and
Whereas, the Saluda Tiger Band performed music by William Walton entitled Belshazzar's Feast for the 1994 State Championship competition; and
Whereas, the Saluda High Marching Tiger Band has won the Class AA State Marching Band Championship for previous years 1989, 1990, 1992, and 1993; and
Whereas, this talented band has certainly been consistent and diligent in adding the 1994 Championship to its rich history of past state championships; and
Whereas, the outstanding Saluda Tiger Band Directors, Byron Hilley and Mark Brandon, have certainly devoted many long hours of their personal time, constant encouragement, and through their deliberate actions have encouraged these young people to excel and be winners; and
Whereas, the band members' dedication, talent, persistence, and unity exemplifies the significant dividends of winning this prestigious championship; and
Whereas, the innovative spirit of the Saluda community and the unwavering support of their Principal, William Whitfield, added motivation to the Saluda Tiger Band to press on and give their very best; and
Whereas, the very active band parent organization, Tiger Band Boosters, has constantly provided strength and promoted the Saluda Tiger Marching Band through unselfish and tireless efforts; and
Whereas, this is an outstanding and highly deserving group of young musicians, and all of the citizens of South Carolina are extremely proud of their record. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend congratulations and best wishes to the Saluda High Marching Tiger Band upon winning the AA 1994 State Marching Band Championship.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Byron Hilley and Mark Brandon, Saluda Tiger Band Directors, and to William Whitfield, Principal of Saluda High School.
