EXTENDING CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE SWANSEA HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM OF LEXINGTON COUNTY ON WINNING THE 1995 CLASS AA STATE WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have recently learned that the Swansea High School Wrestling Team has captured the 1995 Class AA State Championship; and
Whereas, in winning this important event they dethroned the defending state champion, West Oak High School in Oconee County beating them by a score of 117 to 116; and
Whereas, another Lexington County school, Chapin High School placed third in this event; and
Whereas, the Swansea Wrestling Team has played with consistency and its diligent adherence to regular practices have been rewarded by achieving the goal that all members of the team sought at the beginning of the season; and
Whereas, the citizens of Lexington County, and indeed the State, are extremely proud of this team's effort; and
Whereas, Coach Quincy Riley and Assistant Coach Chris Thoma have made an outstanding contribution toward guiding this team throughout the season. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Swansea High School Wrestling Team, on winning the 1995 Class AA State Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Quincy Riley and Principal Larry Radon.
