A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION AND GREAT PRIDE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO ANDERSON AREA MEDICAL CENTER OF ANDERSON COUNTY FOR RECEIVING THE HIGHEST RANKING GIVEN BY THE JOINT COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION OF HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATIONS BY EARNING "ACCREDITATION WITH COMMENDATION".

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that an inspection of Anderson Area Medical Center last May has produced successful results by attaining the highest ranking given by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations; and

Whereas, Anderson Medical Center President Kirk Oglesby, Jr., recently told the Board of Trustees that the hospital earned "accreditation with commendation"; and

Whereas, the medical center has undergone two previous examinations by the Chicago-based commission since 1990; and

Whereas, the recent success is the third consecutive time Anderson Medical Center has won the top designation in the tri-annual survey; and

Whereas, Anderson Area Medical Center accomplished close to a perfect score; and

Whereas, this is another indication to the citizens of Anderson County of the fine quality of health services being offered in their own community; and

Whereas, we, the members of the General Assembly, are proud to have this opportunity to recognize the enormous achievements Anderson Area Medical Center has contributed to the state's health care needs. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General of Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express appreciation and great pride to Anderson Area Medical Center of Anderson County for receiving the highest ranking given by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations by earning "accreditation with commendation".

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Anderson Area Medical Center President Kirk Oglesby, Jr.
