On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Oran P. Smith was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Leo Richardson was withdrawn from consideration.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Oran P. Smith was duly elected to the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Second Congressional District, Seat 3, for the term prescribed by law.

Third Congressional District, Seat 5

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Third Congressional District, Seat 5.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. Payne Barnette, Jr. of Greenwood, S.C., and Mr. Carey J. Green of Seneca, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Payne Barnette, Jr. was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Carey J. Green was withdrawn from consideration.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Payne Barnette, Jr. was duly elected to the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Third Congressional District, Seat 5, for the term prescribed by law.

Fourth Congressional District, Seat 7

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Fourth Congressional District, Seat 7.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Ms. Elaine W. Marks was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Elaine W. Marks was duly elected to the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Fourth Congressional District, Seat 7, for the term prescribed by law.

Fifth Congressional District, Seat 9

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Fifth Congressional District, Seat 9.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Ms. Juli S. Powers of Clio, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Ms. Juli S. Powers was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Juli S. Powers was duly elected to the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Fifth Congressional District, Seat 9, for the term prescribed by law.

Sixth Congressional District, Seat 11

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Sixth Congressional District, Seat 11.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. Fred F. DuBard of Florence, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Fred F. DuBard was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Fred F. DuBard was duly elected to the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, Sixth Congressional District, Seat 11, for the term prescribed by law.

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, At-Large position, Seat 13.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. Franklin Burroughs of Conway, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Franklin Burroughs was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Franklin Burroughs was duly elected to the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, At-Large position, Seat 13, for the term prescribed by law.

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, At-Large position, Seat 15.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. Edwin C. Wall, Jr. of Conway, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Edwin C. Wall, Jr. was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Edwin C. Wall, Jr. was duly elected to the Board of Trustees for Coastal Carolina University, At-Large position, Seat 15, for the term prescribed by law.

Election of Members to the Board of Trustees

for the Medical University of South Carolina

Second Congressional District, Unexpired Term

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the unexpired position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Second Congressional District.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. H. Donald McElveen of Columbia, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. H. Donald McElveen was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable H. Donald McElveen was duly elected to the unexpired position on the Board of Trustees for the Medical University of South Carolina, Second Congressional District, for the term prescribed by law.

First Congressional District, Seat 1

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for South Carolina State University, First Congressional District, Seat 1.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. Arnold Collins of Charleston, S.C., Mr. Moses A. Wilds, Sr. of Charleston, S.C., and Mr. George Williams of Conway, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the names of Mr. Arnold Collins, Mr. Moses Wilds and Mr. George Williams were placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. George Williams was withdrawn from consideration.

On motion of Rep. Harrell, the name of Mr. Moses Wilds was withdrawn from consideration.

On motion of Senator WASHINGTON, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for South Carolina State University, Second Congressional District, Seat 2.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Mr. Anthony T. Grant of Columbia, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the name of Mr. Anthony T. Grant was placed in nomination.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the nominations were closed and, with unanimous consent, the vote was taken by acclamation, resulting in the election of the nominee.

Whereupon, the PRESIDENT announced that the Honorable Anthony T. Grant was duly elected to the Board of Trustees for South Carolina State University, Second Congressional District, Seat 2, for the term prescribed by law.

Fourth Congressional District, Seat 4

The PRESIDENT announced that nominations were in order for the Board of Trustees for South Carolina State University, Fourth Congressional District, Seat 4.

Rep. Stoddard, Chairman of the Committee to Screen Candidates for Board of Trustees of State Colleges and Universities, stated that Dr. James L. Bullard of Taylors, S.C., and Mr. Alphonso Allen of Greenville, S.C., had been screened and found qualified.

On motion of Rep. Stoddard, the names of Dr. James Bullard and Mr. Alphonso Allen were placed in nomination.

The Clerk of the Senate called the roll of the Senate and the Senators voted viva voce as their names were called.
