TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, LICENSING AND REGULATION, STATE BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND LAND SURVEYORS, RELATING TO RE-EXAMINATION, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2274, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, relating to re-examination, designated as Regulation Document Number 2274, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.
Revisions are being considered to the regulations to eliminate the requirement for applicants failing the same topical examination three times to wait a period of two years before retaking the examination. The applicant will be required to provide documentation of further study in preparation for the examination. Many applicants have failed the examination three times by one or two points, but with preparation may be able to pass a further examination. Having to wait a period of two years appears to cause a hardship for such applicants.
