EXPRESSING THE SINCERE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO DR. DAVID H. REMBERT, JR. FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS OF DEDICATION AND DEVOTED SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA FACULTY, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, AND ASSOCIATE DEAN, COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS, AT THE UNIVERSITY.
Whereas, Dr. David H. Rembert, Jr. was named assistant professor in the University of South Carolina's Department of Biological Sciences in 1967, after completing both the bachelor and master of science degrees in biology from the University in 1959 and 1964, respectively, and the doctor of philosophy degree in biological sciences from the University of Kentucky in 1967; and
Whereas, Dr. David H. Rembert, Jr. served as editor of the Bulletin of the South Carolina Academy of Science from 1968 to 1970, president of the University's chapter of the Sigma Xi from 1969 to 1970, and national delegate to the Sigma Xi Seventieth Convention held in Palm Springs, California in 1969; and
Whereas, Dr. David H. Rembert, Jr. was elected a Member of The Society in the Bibliography of Natural History of London, England in 1979 and a Fellow of The Linnean Society of London, England in 1983; and
Whereas, Dr. David H. Rembert, Jr. has served the University of South Carolina as associate dean of the College of Science and Mathematics since 1993 and professor in the Department of Biological Sciences since 1981; and
Whereas, Dr. David H. Rembert, Jr. has written or edited more than 50 publications, including journals, books, abstracts, reviews and papers, all pertaining to his interest in the field of science; and
Whereas, Dr. David H. Rembert, Jr. has presented more than 25 papers at professional meetings and has led a total of 50 additional seminars and presentations for a general audience. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, hereby express gratitude and sincere appreciation for more than thirty years of dedicated and devoted service to the University of South Carolina and the State of South Carolina, upon the occasion of his retirement, and wish him many more years of health and prosperity.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. David H. Rembert, Jr.
