To whom was referred a Bill (S. 400), to amend Section 6-9-110, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to the exemption of state buildings from a standard building code, etc., respectfully
That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass with amendment:
Amend the bill, as and if amended, page 1, beginning on line 20, by striking SECTION 1 in its entirety and inserting therein the following:
/SECTION 1. Section 6-9-110 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 6-9-110. In no event may any county, municipal, or other local ordinance or regulation which requires the purchase or acquisition of a permit, license, or other device utilized to enforce any building standard be construed to apply to any a:
(1) state department, institution, or agency permanent improvement project, construction project, renovation project, or property; or
(2) school district facility, permanent improvement project, construction project, renovation project, or property which is reviewed and approved by the State Department of Education; except that the State Department of Education and a local school district may direct that the local ordinance or regulation apply to a particular facility, project, or property."/

TO AMEND SECTION 6-9-110, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE EXEMPTION OF STATE BUILDINGS FROM A STANDARD BUILDING CODE ADOPTED BY A COUNTY OR MUNICIPALITY, SO AS TO EXEMPT BUILDINGS OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 6-9-110 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 6-9-110. In no event may any county, municipal, or other local ordinance or regulation which requires the purchase or acquisition of a permit, license, or other device utilized to enforce any building standard be construed to apply to any state or school district department, institution, or agency permanent improvement project, construction project, renovation project, or property."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
