TO EXPRESS THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE INDEPENDENT INSURANCE AGENTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, CELEBRATING IN JUNE, 1999, THE ONE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GROUP'S FOUNDING AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION TO ITS PAST AND CURRENT MEMBERS FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THIS STATE AND THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE'S ECONOMIC GROWTH AND WELL-BEING.
Whereas, the association of property and casualty insurance agents now known as the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina was founded in June, 1899, in Columbia; and
Whereas, the association was organized as the South Carolina Association of Fire Insurance Agents with the stated purpose of public service and the good of the business in general; and
Whereas, the member insurance agencies have adhered to those principles throughout the association's history by demonstrating a high degree of professionalism in serving a vital economic need of South Carolina's citizens and providing sound counsel to the General Assembly, regulatory authorities, and the insurance industry; and
Whereas, the two hundred eighty insurance agency members of the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina, on June 21, 1999, will celebrate the association's one hundredth anniversary. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, express their congratulations to the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina as they reach the milestone of one hundred years of distinguished service to South Carolina and express to the association's past and current members their appreciation for their contributions to the state's economic growth and well-being.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina.
