TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF DR. DON L. PEOPLES OF WARE SHOALS UPON HIS DEATH.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Don L. Peoples of Ware Shoals on Monday, January 17, 2000; and
Whereas, Dr. Peoples was a native of Tennessee, a 1954 graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical School, and he began his practice in Ware Shoals on July 1, 1955, at the age of twenty-eight; and
Whereas, he was a family practice physician in Ware Shoals for over forty-four years who combined outstanding professional skills with a personal touch that endeared him to patients and friends alike; and
Whereas, Dr. Peoples was the great grandson of a physician, and he tried to practice medicine the way he would want to be treated if he were a patient. He delivered babies for many years and frequently made house calls in addition to keeping normal office hours and visiting patients in Self Memorial Hospital; and
Whereas, Dr. Peoples was a navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Ware Shoals United Methodist Church, and served in many professional and other capacities in his community; and
Whereas, with the death of this wonderful physician at the age of seventy-two, the people of Ware Shoals, Abbeville and Greenwood Counties, and the State of South Carolina have lost a capable and dedicated physician who loved and served his patients and community; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere condolences to his wife, children, family, and friends upon his passing. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Dr. Don L. Peoples of Ware Shoals upon his death.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Mary Gouge Peoples.
