The Senate assembled at 11:00 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the ACTING PRESIDENT, Senator BAUER. (This is a special Statewide Session day established under the provisions of Senate Rule 1B. Members not having scheduled committee or subcommittee meetings may be in their home districts without effect on their session attendance record.)
The ACTING PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.

The following Bill was read the third time and, having received three readings in both Houses, it was ordered that the title be changed to that of an Act and enrolled for Ratification:

Smith, Tripp, Weeks, Whipper and White: A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 27-18-20, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO DEFINITIONS IN THE UNIFORM UNCLAIMED PROPERTY ACT, SO AS TO DELETE GIFT CERTIFICATES FROM THE DEFINITION OF "INTANGIBLE PROPERTY"; TO AMEND SECTION 27-18-150, RELATING TO GIFT CERTIFICATES AND CREDIT MEMOS BEING PRESUMED ABANDONED WHEN NOT CLAIMED WITHIN FIVE YEARS, SO AS TO REMOVE GIFT CERTIFICATES FROM THIS PRESUMPTION OF BEING ABANDONED; AND TO ADD SECTION 27-18-175 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE UNIFORM UNCLAIMED PROPERTY ACT DOES NOT APPLY TO FORFEITED RESERVATION DEPOSITS.

S. 45 (Word version) -- Senators Land, Ford, Mescher, Giese, Reese, Rankin and Branton: A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 6-9-60, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA BUILDING CODES COUNCIL, SO AS TO ADD A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE MODULAR BUILDING INDUSTRY AND A CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE COUNCIL, TO MAKE ALL MEMBERS VOTING MEMBERS, AND TO FURTHER PROVIDE FOR THE CALL OF MEETINGS.

Senator RYBERG moved that, when the Senate adjourns on Friday, May 11, 2001, it stand adjourned to meet next Monday, May 14, 2001, at 1:00 P.M., which motion was adopted.
At 11:35 A.M., on motion of Senator RYBERG, the Senate adjourned to meet tomorrow at 11:00 A.M. under the provisions of Rule 1 for the purpose of taking up local matters and uncontested matters which have previously received unanimous consent to be taken up.
