A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO GREAT FALLS COACH JOHN SMITH ON HIS TREMENDOUS ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING HIS BASKETBALL COACHING CAREER, INCLUDING MOST RECENTLY CAPTURING HIS 700TH CAREER WIN.

Whereas, coaching a sports team requires patience, dedication, and hard work and allows a person the opportunity to have a tremendous influence upon the lives of young people by encouraging them both on and off the playing field; and

Whereas, in coaching basketball, one learns the thrill of victory along with the agony of defeat and takes away experiences which impact an individual for his lifetime; and

Whereas, Coach John Smith captured his 700th career win in the 2004 Class A Boys Basketball Championship game, where the Great Falls "Red Devils" won an exciting 60-58 victory over defending champion Hemingway; and

Whereas, Coach Smith has dedicated many years to the youth of this State guiding them in becoming stronger and faster basketball players and better people and teaching each young man he has coached the importance of teamwork and determination; and

Whereas, in his many years coaching, Coach Smith has been extremely successful, capturing six State Championship Titles at Great Falls High School; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to recognize and honor him on the occasion of reaching this milestone in his wonderful career. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to Great Falls Coach John Smith on his tremendous accomplishments during his basketball coaching career, including most recently capturing his 700th career win.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Great Falls Coach John Smith.
