TO CONGRATULATE BOB JONES ACADEMY VARSITY MOCK TRIAL TEAM, LOCATED IN GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR ITS COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE AND DEMONSTRATION OF EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY IN THE AREA OF MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION UPON BEING DECLARED THE HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS.
Whereas, the Bob Jones Academy Varsity Mock Trial Team, located in Greenville, South Carolina, is comprised of the following members: student attorneys Ashleigh Millard, Matt Miller, and Daniel Hindman; student witnesses Ben Adams, Kerry Weigand, Richie Patton, and Elizabeth Sowers; student bailiffs Emily Sowers, Alex George, Betsy Apelian, and Daniel Nickerson; teacher coach Michael Murphy, assistant teacher coach Chuck Nicholas, student teacher coach Ruth Hindman and attorney coach Allen Fretwell; and
Whereas, the members of the Bob Jones Academy Varsity Mock Trial Team successfully competed in the District Mock Trial Tournament held in Greenville, South Carolina, on February 28, 2004, and advanced to the South Carolina State Tournament in Columbia, South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the Bob Jones Academy Varsity Mock Trial Team successfully competed in the state tournament and were declared the High School Mock Trial South Carolina State Champions on March 13, 2004, and advanced to the National Tournament in Orlando, Florida; and
Whereas, the members of the Bob Jones Academy Varsity Mock Trial Team successfully competed in the national tournament recently, finished in first place, and were declared the High School Mock Trial National Champions; and
Whereas, the outstanding accomplishments by this talented and skillful group of young students and their advisors bring credit not only upon their school and community, but upon the State of South Carolina as well. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Bob Jones Academy Varsity Mock Trial Team, located in Greenville, South Carolina, for its commitment to excellence and demonstration of extraordinary ability in the area of mock trial competition upon being declared the High School Mock Trial National Champions.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the team.
