To whom was referred a Joint Resolution (H. 3717) to require the Edgefield County School District Board of Trustees to establish the starting and ending dates of the school term and to require that the length of the school term complies, etc., respectfully
That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

TO REQUIRE THE EDGEFIELD COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO ESTABLISH THE STARTING AND ENDING DATES OF THE SCHOOL TERM AND TO REQUIRE THAT THE LENGTH OF THE SCHOOL TERM COMPLIES WITH SECTION 59-1-420.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions contained in Section 59-5-71 or any regulation or action of the State Board of Education, beginning school year 2003-2004, the Board of Trustees of the Edgefield County School District shall establish the starting and ending dates of the school term. The length of the school term must comply with all requirements contained in Section 59-1-420.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
