A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 1-11-730, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO ELIGIBILITY FOR COVERAGE UNDER THE STATE HEALTH AND DENTAL INSURANCE PLANS, SO AS TO ALLOW A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF A SCHOOL DISTRICT AND HIS ELIGIBLE DEPENDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PLANS UPON PAYING THE FULL PREMIUM COST OF THE COVERAGE AND TO REQUIRE THE BOARD OR TRUSTEES BY RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE ITS MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PLAN.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 1-11-730 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 80 of 2003, is further amended by adding an appropriately lettered item at the end to read:

"( )    Upon adoption of a resolution by the board of trustees of a school district authorizing its members and their eligible dependents to participate in the state health and dental insurance plans, a member of the board and his eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the plans by paying the full premium costs as determined by the State Budget and Control Board."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
