A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE STUDENTS OF WHITE KNOLL HIGH SCHOOL IN LEXINGTON COUNTY WHO WON STATEWIDE DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION CLUBS OF AMERICA (DECA) AWARDS IN MARKETING COMPETITION IN MYRTLE BEACH ON FEBRUARY 27-29, 2004, COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR TENACITY AND ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT, AND WISH THEM AND THEIR TEACHER AND ADVISOR, CARL VADASZ, AND CO-ADVISOR, CAROL LYNN NUTE, WELL AS THEY COMPETE ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL MAY 1-5, 2004, IN NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.

Whereas, White Knoll High School in Lexington County continues to support a successful marketing, management, and entrepreneurial Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) program, led by twenty-one year veteran teacher and advisor, Carl Vadasz and co-advisor, Carol Lynn Nute; and

Whereas, the DECA students participated in marketing competitions recently in Myrtle Beach, where they captured nine first places, two second places, one third place, and two fourth places in statewide competition; and

Whereas, these students and the DECA program have brought honor to themselves, their school, and the State. All the winners, the DECA program, and Mr. Vadasz and Ms. Nute have earned the deep respect of the citizens of this State; and

Whereas, the winners and their areas are: First Place Winners: Erin Bailey, Restaurant Management; Bethany Turner, Financial Services; Christopher Whitehead, Financial Services; Mellissa Sharpe, E-Commerce; Shaquita Clark, General Marketing; Kerry Donovan, General Marketing; Mindy Giost, General Marketing; Devin Wilson, Food Marketing; Chuck Young, Food Marketing; Second Place Winners: Allison Ricard, Learn and Earn Project; Whitney Hooper, Learn and Earn Project; Third Place Winner: Chase Hilliard, E-Commerce; and Fourth Place Winners: Whitney Smalley, Travel and Tourism Marketing; Amber Creel, Travel and Tourism Marketing; and

Whereas, the first and second place winners have the extraordinary opportunity May 1-5 in Nashville, Tennessee, to further distinguish themselves in the spotlight of national competition and we wish them well. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the students of White Knoll High School in Lexington County who received statewide DECA awards in marketing competition in Myrtle Beach recently, commend them for their tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit, and wish them and their teacher and advisor, Carl Vadasz, and co-advisor, Carol Lynn Nute, well as they compete on the national level May 1-5, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Carl Vadasz and Carol Lynn Nute and the DECA students.
