VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR WILLIAM "WILL" CONE RICHARDSON OF AIKEN COUNTY ON ACHIEVING THE ELITE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT WITH THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA AND TO WISH HIM FURTHER SUCCESS IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Will Richardson of Aiken is the son of Carolyn and Scott Richardson; and
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to recognize young people like Mr. Richardson who selflessly give of their time, talents, and energy to better their local communities, the State, and ultimately our nation; and
Whereas, participating in the Boy Scouts of America requires dedication and a long-term commitment to community service; and
Whereas, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is a tremendous honor that very few scouts attain and is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards that a young man can earn; and
Whereas, since joining the Boy Scouts of America, Will Richardson has held numerous leadership positions such as Historian, Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader; and
Whereas, he has earned several impressive awards and honors during his service as a scout -- the "God and Country" award in 1999, 50 Miles Afloat in 2001, the Order of the Arrow in 2001, the American Heritage Award in 2003, and the Eagle Scout with Bronze Palm in the fall of 2003; and
Whereas, Mr. Richardson has earned forty-three merit badges, has performed over one hundred ninety-five hours of community service, and spent over sixty nights camping with his fellow scouts; and
Whereas, an animal lover by nature, he chose to donate two cedar doghouses to the Aiken Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for his Eagle Scout leadership service project. Mr. Richardson designed the doghouses, solicited donations, procured materials, and managed construction of the doghouses. The completion of this project represented a total commitment of an incredible eighty-eight hours of community service; and
Whereas, this extraordinary young man achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on April 29, 2003, and the South Carolina General Assembly is proud to recognize his many accomplishments; and
Whereas, Will Richardson is a South Carolina son who serves as a positive role model, not just for boy scouts, but for all of South Carolina's young people. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and honor William "Will" Cone Richardson of Aiken County on achieving the elite rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and wish him further success in all of his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. William "Will" Cone Richardson of Aiken.
