Whereas, Kathryn T. Funderburk is an energetic and tireless servant of the people of Orangeburg, Calhoun, and Bamberg counties; and

Whereas, the medical staff of The Regional Medical Center (TRMC) desires to honor her efforts by recognizing all she does on behalf of the hospital and the community; and

Whereas, this Registered Nurse fills the role of Staff Nurse of 2East at TRMC; and

Whereas, this former Orangeburg-Calhoun TEC instructor for the LPN program is lauded as an "excellent teacher and preceptor" with outstanding clinical skills and judgment; and

Whereas, TRMC medical staff's highest praise of her professional prowess includes the recognition that her execution of the art and science of nursing care is a challenge to all in the medical community; and

Whereas, Kathy Funderburk makes use of her educational talents and sunny disposition to teach four and five-year-olds in Sunday School at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, where she also serves as Coordinator of Education; and

Whereas, she is a volunteer for the Junior Service League's hospital canteen and the chair of the Edisto District Leadership Training for the Boy Scouts of America; and

Whereas, as the Coordinator for the Orangeburg/Bamberg/Calhoun County SAFE KIDS Coalition, she has been highly energetic and effective in directing events and public attention to safety concerns for children, particularly in connection with child restraint seats and bicycle safety; and

Whereas, a dedicated cycler herself, Kathy Funderburk's contagious smile radiates good health and good humor as she peddles all across the community of Orangeburg, always wearing her helmet, of course; and

Whereas, this willing servant is a valuable asset to this State and most worthy of appreciative recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate hereby applaud Kathryn T.
