AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 248 OF 1969, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE CREATION OF THE STARTEX AREA FIRE DISTRICT IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SO AS TO INCREASE FROM TWENTY TO FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS THE BORROWING LIMITS OF THE DISTRICT AND TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF FIRE CONTROL TO HIRE SUCH EMPLOYEES AND DETERMINE THEIR SALARIES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Borrowing limits increased
SECTION 1. Section 5(h) of Act 248 of 1969 is amended to read:
"(h) To borrow not exceeding five hundred thousand dollars on terms and for a period the fire control board may seem most beneficial for the fire district in anticipation of taxes. The indebtedness is evidenced by a note issued by the members of the board and the county treasurer. The full faith, credit, and taxing power of the Startex Area Fire District is irrevocably pledged for the payment of the indebtedness."
Employees may be hired
SECTION 2. Section 5 of Act 248 of 1969 is amended by adding at the end:
"(i) To hire such employees and provide for their salaries as the board shall determine."
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 10th day of February, 2005.
